Is Cosmetic Dentistry For You?

From simple teeth whitening to orthodontics, modern dentistry offers many solutions to stained, broken or misaligned teeth and also gums. Even subtle changes or repairs to teeth can make a big difference to the look of your teeth and smile.

Here is a summary of procedures classed as artistic or cosmetic dentistry.

Tooth Whitening

The simplest way to improve the look of discoloured teeth. Compared to over-the-counter products, you are much more likely to arrive at an even, natural looking shade.

Tooth Reshaping

This removes parts of the enamel in order to improve the appearance of the tooth, e.g. if it was chipped, an irregular shape or position, crooked or excessively long.

Bonding

Changes the look of a tooth by applying an enamel-like composite material to the surface, sculpting and polishing.

Dental Bridges

Also known as false teeth. Replaces the gap where one or more are missing

Veneers

Ultra thin, porcelain laminates bonded directly to teeth. Useful for closing gaps or disguising teeth which are too discoloured and don't respond to whitening.

Gum Lift

Raising and sculpting of the gum line which creates the appearance of longer or more symmetrical teeth

Bite Reclamation

The vertical dimension of teeth can change over years of grinding or acid reflux. This is a longer term, involved procedure to realigned the bite. It can also reduce surrounding wrinkles and correct painful jaw disorders, e.g. TMJ
